Gone, but Not Forgotten! | Tara & Roxanne
Well, it’s only happen once before in 7 years, but I was unable to attend the marriage of Tara and Roxanne at Keswick Vineyards on Friday, October 27, 2017. Of all the weddings I had to miss, why did it have to be this one????
Tara and Roxanne have a long relationship with Keswick Vineyards. They joined our wine club back in December of 2012 and have had the bragging rights as part of the winning team that created our 2015 Consensus wine! All of us were so excited when they chose to get married at Keswick Vineyards. Well, who would have known that our son Eric would pick the same date to get married... in Michigan! So, not only could Al and I not be here, but also our other son, Brian, who works the weddings with me besides being our Wine Club Manager. He was now going to be the Best Man. Stephen, our Winemaker, was also being eyed by Tara & Roxanne to be their officiant because of the long relationship and friendship that they share with him. Stephen did get to be an officiant that day, but it was for Eric’s wedding instead.
Obviously, with all of us being gone, we continuously thought about Tara and Roxanne’s wedding day as we celebrated in Michigan. I was so happy and thrilled to hear when I got back that their wedding went off without a hitch and they were so happy with everything. What a relief! (and yes, I did call that night to make sure everything went well).
Tara and Roxanne recently shared with us some of their wedding photos and I can see why they were so happy with everything. The two of them look amazing! Mother Nature provided them with a beautiful fall day and even included a beautiful sunset. As I look at their photos, a part of me is sad that I missed their day. We all really wanted to physically be there, but it just didn’t work out that way, but we were definitely there mentally.

Bringing People Together | Katie & Nick
Wrapping up another three-wedding weekend with the marriage of Katie and Nick on Sunday, October 22, 2017. Once again, picture perfect weather! With that beautiful fall scenery, they also chose our “fall” location for their ceremony. That’s all three couples this weekend choosing that ceremony location. The views are amazing!
Katie and Nick had two boys acting as their ring bearer. What made that role extra special was the cool name tag they got to wear. It said, “ring security” and had a picture of them on it. It looked so official! You could tell they really felt special and important with their role.
I must share this wonderful idea that this wedding did for their escort cards. They made a free-standing frame that had each couples’ name on it in alphabetical order. Next to the frames was a table that had a Polaroid camera and film on it with directions. When guests came to take their escort card, they would replace that card with a selfie they would take. So, at the end of cocktail hour, the frames were now filled with photos of all their guests. How great is that? It also gave guests something to do during cocktail hour.
Once seated the guests could enjoy a pre-set salad while the couple shared their first dance. I like the idea of having a salad pre-set when you are doing a buffet dinner. This allows all your guest to get something to eat while each table makes their way to the buffet line.
Thank you to the following vendors for making another dream wedding come true:

A "Fun"-Fetti Wedding! | Tyler & Harry
Congratulations to Tyler & Harry who were married at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Once again, thank you Mother Nature for giving this couple an exceptional Virginia fall day. Tyler & Harry chose our “fall” location to take advantage of the beautiful back drop of the changing colors of trees on the mountain and the vineyard. That view just never gets old.
As guests made their way to the ceremony site, they were asked to sign a globe instead of a traditional guest book. Next to the globe was a gift table that had a display of wedding photos of both the bride & groom parents & grandparents. What I really liked about these photos was that they had a small tag on them so you knew who the photo was of. I’ve never seen that before and thought it was a great idea.
For the escort cards, the brides’ family brought a dresser with the mirror removed and replaced with a board. On that board were neatly attached cards displaying each table with who was sitting there.
Take a look at Tyler & Harry’s wedding cake. Would you believe a friend of theirs made it and this was her very first wedding cake to make? Amazing! Only a girlfriend would make a funfetti cake for a bride. To cut the cake the couple used a sword that has been used in the brides’ family for her parents and grandparents wedding. I just love it when family heirlooms can be used to keep the tradition alive.
All photos included in this blog were taken by owner of Keswick Vineyards, Cindy Schornberg.

The Sweetest Thing! | Lyndsay & Rick
It’s hard to beat the beauty of a fall October day in Virginia. Anyone who works in the wedding business knows how crazy busy it is for us. On top of having triple weddings every weekend in October, I have numerous birthdays in our family. This year, our youngest was turning 16. I happened to mention it to this bride, Lyndsey, when she did her final walk thru. I mentioned how long her wedding weekend would be for me because not only did I have 3 weddings, but also had a Sweet 16 birthday to celebrate. So, what did Lyndsey do the day before her wedding as if she had nothing else to do? She baked my daughter her favorite flavor of cupcakes with whip cream frosting (her favorite again) and brought them to her rehearsal along with a card. Wow! Do I not have the best couples and families getting married here? I couldn’t believe she remembered something I just mentioned as small talk and then took the time to make my daughter’s birthday even more special. Thank you so much Lyndsey for your thoughtfulness! Its the sweetest thing!
Lyndsey & Rick were married on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Keswick Vineyards. The weather was something a couple would pray for. Simply perfect! Lyndsey and Rick chose to get married in what we call our “fall” location. We nick named it that because of the panoramic views you have and in the fall, they are hard to beat. Accentuating the view, Lyndsey’s father made these doors that were used as a backdrop for their ceremony. After the ceremony, they were moved to the reception to be placed behind the couple chairs.
Lyndsey & Rick decided to do the “wine box” tradition during their ceremony. Rick added his personal touch to what was included in the box. Most people place a nice bottle of red wine in it. Not Rick. He is a bourbon guy so besides the bottle of wine he also added a nice bottle of bourbon!
For the reception, a chandelier was hung just over the dance floor. This is one of my favorite looks because it is so pretty to see the couple do their first dance under it. A very long head table with farm tables was also used. And, one of my favorite little detail from this wedding, pretzels that were decorated to be a bride and groom were at each place setting. They are adorable!
Another successful wedding thanks to the magical team of:
